about art

why own original art?

Original works of art will add character to your home or office and give it an atmosphere of richness and beauty. There is a deep personal gratification derived from knowing that a piece you're displaying in your environment is by an artist whose work is shown in museums and galleries. And you can own an original by that artist, not a photographic reproduction.

original graphics

In addition to oils, acrylics, watercolor, monoprints and mixed media works, there are also original graphics. Only original graphics have the vibrant color and purity of line that the artist intended. These prints bring together the artist's genius and the master printmaker's skill.

Original prints, including etchings, lithographs, serigraphs, linocuts and woodblocks are printed by the artist himself or under his supervision. The print is created by "pressing" the paper against the original stone, plate, screen or block that the artist has created. No photomechanical means are used.

Limited edition original prints will be signed by the artist and numbered to indicate the total size of the "edition." The first number indicates the particular print you are observing and the second indicates the size of the total edition.

how can there be more than one original?

Instead of creating one painting, it is the print artist's intent to create an edition. Each original print is signed and numbered by the artist. Then the stones, plates or screens are defaced and can never be used again.

The resulting prints from these editions are all originals and are recognized as such by artists, museums and collectors around the world.
